Mixed Media Embroidery Journal
Each month you will learn and master a new machine embroidery technique or small project. Your knowledge and experience will grow as you become familiar with many ways to use your sewing machine to embroider. Subjects that will be covered are:- free motion machine embroidered needle lace, stitching on water soluble film, making new fabrics from fabric and stitch, machine embroidered monogramming, machine embroidered gardens, Machine embroidered pictorial applique and much much more. So come and along and learn your sewing machine.

A Calendar of Flowers
In this class we will take a flower that blooms in each month of the year such as roses, daises, fuchsia and jasmine and you will learn how to use traditional and contemporary methods of stitch to embroider and bring them to life. All techniques will be covered across the year from stump work, gold work, applique, surface stitchery and many more. Every month your flower will be embroidered as a picture, a decorative ornament or a small functional project ideal for you to give as a special gift. Come and join me on this monthly class and embroider all your favourite blooms.

Machine Embroidery Group One
This class is where you will be able to learn and get to grips with all those machine embroidery techniques. We will cover machine embroidered trees, machine made needle lace, machine embroidered flowers and leaves, draw your own unique designs in stitch, machine embroidered lettering and much more. The class will be a place where you will be shown and encouraged to perfect that days subject, making small samples and unique and exquisite small gifts.

Introduction to Machine
Embroidery
Get to know more about you sewing machine and learn how to use it to free motion embroider. In this set of classes we will look at making embroidered fabrics, using water soluble film to make lace, embroidered monograms and painted and machine embroidered pictures all de- signed to give you greater confidence to use your sewing machine to its full potential.

Water Soluble Bowls & Vessels
Learn how to use free motion machine embroidery to make a new fabric from organza scraps trapped between water soluble film. Mould over a bowl or vase to form a see through and delicate vessel which will be beaded and heavily embellished with machine embroidered flowers and leaves made from layered organza using the soldering iron.

Bullion & French Knot
Come and master how to work bullion knots and French knots to make a hand embroidered wreath with a beaded edge and ribbon hanger. There are several flowers that can be worked using bullion knots along with French knots as buds and other surface stitches to produce a garden of foliage to cover the surface. Guidance on needles and technique will be given through- out the day with demonstrations on how to assemble and finish your delicate hand embroidered

Water Soluble Medley of Traped Organza Fabric
In this class we will look at water-soluble products to make a several new fabrics from scraps trapped between them. In the morning we will machine stitch chopped up scrap snippets back together, connecting them to form a delicate lacy fabric with the pieces suspended within your stitching. In the afternoon we will layer strips of organza and connect and embellish them with stitches to make a background fabric to work further embroidery on to.

The Liberated Canvas Workshop
If you think Canvas work is old hat and boring then let Kathleen teach you some traditional stitches and show you how to liberate that canvas so that it becomes interesting, textured and full of colour, bearing no resemblance to those old fashioned and heavy canvasses of the past. We will work the stitches in a variety of threads onto painted and sprayed canvas and will start our journey towards a small box, panel or book cover. You will be guided on how and where to work the stitches as other materials such as painted papers, machine embroidery threads, wire, beads and buttons are sympathetically combined to liberate the progressing design. Demos and ideas will be given throughout on how to finish your project

Goldwork Sunflower
Come and learn the traditional techniques of gold work. In this stunning project you will learn to couch gold cords, layer organza, apply leather, and how to raise and cover the sunflower’s stem with rows of cut and applied purl wire.

Flower Obelisk
Come and make this pyramid fabric obelisk structure rising to a sharp point and displaying falling trailing flowers and leaves. We will look at simple machine skills to decorate and make the obelisk along with hand stitching and embellishments of beads and sequins. Small elegant flowers will be made using water soluble film and stitched to the obelisk to entwine and fall at random forming an unusual ornamental feature for the home.
